In the same way that a cloud appears in the sky, without trying to be or look a certain way, is what it means to let go.
I can’t tell you that you should let go, because you trying to let go isn’t letting go. One must become like a cloud.
Letting go is an art.
It is when you are fully absorbed with your experience in the present moment, without any judgement.
Now, what is judgement on present experience?
It is the memory of past experiences and the knowledge you have acquired along the way. These memories are making guesses and judgements on what this present experience is, if its good, bad, pleasurable, or uncomfortable. All judgements arise based on past memories of what you think an experience is. Yes, judging something as “good” is a judgement.
Labeling an expereince “good” creates the experience of something being “bad.”
Now since you are taking your present experience and comparing it to different past experiences in your life you are never fully living now.
Living fully in the present moment is such a beautiful peaceful experience, because it’s free of any label.
It’s free of “me” interfering and judging it.
If you let go of yourself, who you believe yourself to be, and how this moment should be…. is when you find your true self.
Your true self is self-less.
Your true state is the state of no-self. No judgement. No thinker of thoughts.
This post was inspired by the book I am currently reading, The Wisdom of Insecurity, by Alan Watts. It’s a brilliant book that goes into detail on the reason why were constantly battling states of anxiety and fear, and goes deeply into the nature of them. I recommend for anyone who is struggling and trying to find themselves, or just anyone who is in for a great read.
